I just plain got lucky. I bought the CU7000 for the 55 in. size and the decent price before reading any ratings. The experts compared the CU 7000 and 8000. Both were highly rated, but technically the 7000 came out on top. Lucky me. i made a good choice. All I can say is that it's an excellent product, the picture and sound are great. I can even use my home theater sound system on regular TV shows, something my old set wouldn't allow.
